Process Engineer
Bloomington, MN | Direct-Hire | $85,000–$105,000 (Flexible) | 100% Onsite

A leading manufacturer in precision electronics and small mechanical assemblies is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to support and enhance their production processes. This role will focus on driving process optimization, implementing new production technologies, and supporting lean initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and refine electronic assembly and mechanical build processes to improve throughput, cost, and quality performance.
• Design and document production workflows, manufacturing specifications, inspection methods, and test protocols for PCB and small-scale assemblies.
• Establish time standards, process routings, and performance metrics for key production areas.
• Support the full lifecycle of new equipment implementation including selection, justification, installation, and validation.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for production and quality-related issues; work collaboratively with engineering, production, and quality teams.
• Create and maintain clear, effective work instructions and process documentation to support operator training and standardized work.
• Conduct facility layout and mechanical design work using CAD tools; assist in production floor planning and optimization.
• Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen events, and process mapping efforts.
• Serve as a cross-functional liaison between engineering, account management, and production teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Provide training to production personnel during technology transfers and new process rollouts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical field.
• 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role
• Working knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and small mechanical assembly techniques.
• Experience with CAD software for mechanical design and layout tasks (AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred).
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Comfortable interpreting and working with technical drawings, diagrams, and written instructions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Exposure to ERP systems (Epicor a plus); knowledge of AEGIS software preferred.
• Prior experience with test development, inspection methods, or failure analysis in a production environment.
• Estimating or quoting experience for small assemblies is beneficial.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
