Job Description

Chief Marketing Officer Location Grand Rapids, MI  (Heartside area) : SUMMARY Overall responsibility and accountability for Marketing and Brand Management. The Chief Marketing Officer will also lead innovation at Mahou USA. This role goes beyond traditional marketing leadership. It requires driving the development of new products, services, and business models aligned with our strategic goals with an outlook of craft, beyond beer. The ideal candidate will foster of culture of innovation, manage end to end innovation processes, and build internal capabilities while tracking emerging trends and technologies. They must collaborate across departments, especially with R&D and Sales, and bring strong leadership, strategic thinking, and data driven decision making to inspire transformative growth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Establishes strategic marketing plans designed to achieve corporate objectives for products and the overall branding of the organization.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of the organization.
  • Overall management, promotion, protection, and documentation of company brand.
  • Manages all marketing staff including the Events Coordinator, Communications Manager, Creative Manager, Project Manager, Graphic Designer, and Marketing Coordinator positions to ensure goals are being met (a for each is available for review).
  • Develops and manages the marketing department operating budget.
  • Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity.
  • Oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, digital, social media, multi-media, and other messaging platforms.
  • Oversees all company communication and public relations
  • Responsible for management of cross functional projects for the company
  • Responsible for managing all graphic design including cases, promotional materials, labels, etc.
  • Responsible for managing all events, sponsorships, and donations
  • Works closely with the sales department to evaluate, recommend, and develop POS, promotional materials, and distribution channel development programs.
  • Determines agencies and suppliers of record and negotiates contract terms and conditions for major services.
  • Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Ensures effective control of marketing results and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
  • Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Monitors competitive products and marketing activities. Consistently provides feedback and opportunities to management team.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key community and strategic partners.
  • Resolves conflicts and facilitates changes in structure of marketing staff and agencies/suppliers of record to ensure objective fulfillment and swift response to marketing problems and opportunities.
  • Conducts marketing surveys on current and new product concepts or packaging and provides feedback for future product or package development.
  • Guides preparation of marketing activity reports, dashboard, and other deliverables as requested by executive management.
  • Establishes and maintains a consistent brand image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  • Responsible for employee goal setting, measurement, and feedback.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees a Marketing Department of approximately 15 employees, while directly supervising 6 employees in the Marketing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.   • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and a minimum 10+ years related marketing experience including development and marketing of a national brand.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Design Software; Microsoft Office and Outlook.
