Job Description

Job Summary: As a School Health Assistant with BrightStar of Lake County, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of students in the Merrillville, Indiana area. The perfect candidate will have experience in the school or pediatric setting, be a self-starter, great with communication and enjoy working with grade school/middle school aged children. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct healthcare to students in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Conduct health screenings and assessments for students
• Assist with administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
• Educate students on health-related topics, such as nutrition, hygiene, and injury prevention
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all students
• Communicate with parents/guardians and school staff regarding the health of students
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized healthcare plans
• Monitor and track immunization and vaccination records for students
• Respond to emergency situations and provide first aid treatment until emergency medical services arrive
• Adhere to all state and federal healthcare regulations and guidelines

Requirements:

• Current MA certification in the state of Indiana
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a pediatric or school setting
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
• Knowledge of basic computer skills and electronic medical records
• Ability to work a full-time schedule and maintain regular attendance
• Must pass a background check and drug screening
