Overview

Primarily focused on applying medical knowledge and research, to advise in the review and analysis of General Liability and Auto Personal Injury claims. Collaborates with claims handling professionals and attorneys to identify and evaluate causation and damages to assist in the resolution strategy.

How you'll make an impact

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare in-depth medical chronology reports summarizing medical records as well as identifying related and unrelated medical specials; provides analysis and recommendations for further claims handling.
  • Conduct research as required influencing the clinical opinions pertaining to causation and damages; determines how pre-existing conditions, medications, past injuries, treatment gaps and noncompliance impact claims.
  • Compose concise clinical opinions regarding the causality of the injury as well as proposes alternative causation - to include opinion on damages and potential future care expenses or injury as a whole person or partial with permanency.
  • Manage intake of requests for general liability investigations; reviews and develops action plans and handle cases accordingly with attention to detail and prioritize assignment requests accordingly.
  • Communicate with Claims Professionals regarding assignments as well as review of comprehensive reports after completion to ensure utilization of information provided ensuring enhanced understanding of report by the Resolution Managers.
About You

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent; Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of medical malpractice and personal injury law.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare regulations, and legal procedures.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex medical information and apply it to legal cases.
  • Proficient in using medical research databases, electronic medical record systems, and legal research tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex medical concepts to claims handling professionals, attorneys and other team members.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal case management software. Strong Analytical and interpretive skills. 
  • Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and constructive written reports.

Desired:

  • Technical claims knowledge of general liability/ bodily injury claims, procedures and practices.
  • Experience in a hospital or medical-legal setting preferable.
  • Analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and constructive written reports
  • Paralegal certification or equivalent legal education and experience is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working for a law firm, insurance company, third party claims administrator or in-house legal team assisting in the management and defense of medical malpractice litigation is strongly preferred.
