Job Description

The DLP Services, LLC is currently accepting applications for the position of:

  • POSITION TITLE: Environmental Safety Manager
  • Location: Charleston, South Carolina
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt 
  • Hire Pay: DOE.
  • Classification: Full-time.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Environmental Safety Manager establishes and oversees the health and safety processes for the organization. They take into consideration industry regulations and the specific risks in the workplace to ensure normal work activities are handled safely.


JOB SUMMARY:

  • Plans the company’s health and safety program and protocols.
  • Trains supervisors, managers and other leaders in the company about health and safety standards.
  • Presenting safety training sessions to the company.
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal and state regulations.
  • Handling risk assessments to gather information on safety issues.
  • Verifying that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
  • Analyzing health and safety data.
  • Reviewing and recommending changes to regular activities.
  • Respond when workplace accidents happen, creating reports and determining ways to prevent similar accidents.
  • Handles all accidents or incidents including worker’s compensation claims until resolved.
  • Work in a variety of settings, including company warehouses, office buildings, etc.
  • Addresses specific concerns with staff and management.
  • Performs other duties as requested.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Shall possess 5 years of recent (within the past 10 years) responsible experience in field management of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety/Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations. 
  • AHERA Asbestos Inspector training and Hazardous Waste Site Operation training must be completed within 6 months of acceptance of the position. 
  • Should have demonstrated skills and knowledge in implementing environmental/safety programs. 
  • Shall have proficiency in oral and written communication in English. 
  • Shall have basic computer skills including the ability to input data into the system and generate various reports and correspondence as required. 
  • Understanding of OSHA guidelines and state and local safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with the tools, machines, and equipment used in the workplace.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to teach others the established safety standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy skills and comfort with various types of technology used in the industry.
  • Ability to work well as a team and interact with different groups of people.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Experience in the health and safety field, either as a Safety Coordinator or a similar role that helps create and enforce safety standards.
  • Completed OSHA’s Safety and Health Fundamentals Certificate Program including worksite reports annually.
  • Must be bilingual.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives supervision from the Director of Human Resources.
  • The position has no formal responsibility or authority.
  • Must complete jobs without constant supervision.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The principal duties of this position are to perform in an indoor and outdoor environment.
  • Traveling required.


ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING POLICY:

  • This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
  • DLP Services, LLC has a Drug Free Workplace Policy which includes Post-Accident Testing, Random Testing, and/or Reasonable Suspicion Testing.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour card preferred or willing to attend training to obtain.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific safety standards.


Other: Valid Drivers’ License Class C.
